I recently changed the battery in my nuvi 660 and now there is no sound (even though I reconnected the speaker connector) and there are lines across the screen which I think is because the ribbon cable came off. even though I've tried re-seating the ribbon connectors, i still get the same problem. Any ideas? i love this nuvi and would like to find someone to fix it but not sure if its worth the cost.

We receive stories like this every week. Sometimes it is best to send your unit to someone who is experienced at changing batteries in order to prevent damages from happening.

As for the speaker, you probbaly damaged the headphone jack connections taking the board out of the case. The speaker audio passes thru the headphone jack.

As for the LCD, if you damaged the connector in any way, operation of the LCD will be affected. The connectors are impossible to be replaced by hand and were installed by a SMT machine.

We prefer not to work on units like this because in many cases, they are damaged beyond repair. Parts are also often missing and there may be other issues not conveyed to us ahead of time in order to provide an accurate quote.
