I have broke the ribbon cable on the flip up antenna. It is completely off the unit. I was wondering if I can use an external antenna?

No, because the external antenna needs power (for the pre-amp), which is supplied through the flex cable. The flip-up antenna, is just not an antenna. It also houses the GPS receiver assembly. The flex cable is used to provide power to the GPS receiver assembly (still required with use of an external antenna) and the flex cable also sends the satellite data back to the main unit so that it can be processed on the screen.

We've sent you a quote for repair. This is a common problem and we've repaired many with this issue.

I have a Nuvi 660 with a bad antenna. I am using an external but would like to get it fixed. I've been checking your site for about 4 months and the repair schedule is always full. Are you still in business?

Hi Tom,

If our repair schedule is always full, how could we be out of business?

We receive 2 weeks worth of work now in less than 1 day of accepting repairs. We are not a million-dollar corporation. We are just (2) technicians serving the entire world.

No business will take in more business than they can handle. That's just good business practice.

It doesn't make sense to accept every repair and then let the units sit on shelves for several weeks.

That's just asking for trouble and not serving our customers.

We've sent you info on how to obtain a quote from us.
