So I read http://www.sharc.net/gps_antenna_repair.htm and tried the wire trick to see if i can gain antenna lock. Sure enough I can. I'd like to get this fixed so I don't have to carry around. Is there anyway I can get on the wait list? It appears the request a quote isn't taking new requests :-( Or does anyone know of another option?

Thanks!

Please help. I am having a Antenna problem with my Nuvi 660 exactly as described on your site. It acquires satellite only when I push a thin wire in the external antenna slot. I would like to get this repaired from you.

Hi, I broke the flip antenna off my nuvi 660. The ribbon broke. I was wondering if I could get an external antenna, if it would work.

No, because the external antenna needs power (for the pre-amp), which is supplied through the flex cable. The flip-up antenna, is just not an antenna. It also houses the GPS receiver assembly. The flex cable is used to provide power to the GPS receiver assembly (still required with use of an external antenna) and the flex cable also sends the satellite data back to the main unit so that it can be processed on the screen.

We've sent you a quote for repair. This is a common problem and we've repaired many with this issue.

Please help. I am also having the same Antenna problem with my Nuvi 680 except it does not acquire satellite when I push a thin wire in the external antenna slot and the field marked "GPS S/W" is set to 0.0, aka "ZOMBIE MODE" or "ZM".
I would like to get this repaired from you.

I have the Nuvi 660 that cost almost $1000 new 4 years ago. My "lost satellite reception" started ages ago (3 years) but because I use the Nuvi on car rentals, I didn't bother looking into the problem, until now when I needed a functioning GPS and it kept failing. I'm in Canada and seeking professional repair IF it is cost effective. Since it is such a common problem, Garmin should be repairing them all at their expense (but that isn't in the fine print)

I see that Raytech is the "authorized" Canadian repair facility and they charge $82.80 plus taxes and shipping for flat rate repair. Is it worthwhile repairing the nuvi 660? Thx.

Hi Ira, I sent you an email with a link to our quote page. $82.50 is pretty steep for just an antenna repair. We can make the same repair for probably 1/2 that. We've repaired many units from Canada. Please look at our feedback here:

http://www.sharc.net/gps_repair_feedback.htm

We are not an "authorized" service center. We are independent and therefore we have the ability to use better parts (and we do) in our repairs and we set our own prices, which are usually far below the factory.

We offer the same 90-day warranty as the factory.

Yes, the Nuvi 660 is worth fixing. It's a great GPS and I own many of them, being in the business. I actually prefer it over the newer models as the parts are easy to obtain and the factory is still supporting it with firmware & map upgrades.

We have a Nuvi 660 that is not able to 'acquire satellites' and I'm now assuming it is the fried antenna circuitry that is to blame. I would like to have you repair it for us. Please let me know how I can proceed. Thanks.

My 660, While driving all of a sudden GPS indicates, "Lost or Low Satellite Reception"
With a clear view of the sky and no matter what, can't get any satellite reception again. Than I go into Charging mode for awhile. Than back to check and signal is back. But won't take long till signal is lost again. Have tried the wire trick with no results, Concerned about pushing wire in to hard. Would like to have repaired.
No break in getting a quote request in.

Hi, received what looks like a 'quote' to repair my 660. I did a reply to that e-mail and now I'm more confused than ever. Should I be doing something else?
