The touch screen on my 660 just quite responding. I would like to know if it is worth fixing or not.
How expensive of a fix is this? Garmin wants $110 to swap my unit out with another 660.
Also if I was to repair this would it make sense to change the battery as well? If so, how expensive is that?
Thanks Brian

I purchased a NNuvi 660 from ebay. The splash screen says Property of DTG Operatiosn.... can't get rid of it. Garmin refuses to help and Seller doesn't answer emails, so I decided to live with it. After changing the battery and using as is for a few weeks, it stopped responding to touchscreen. I can't Agree to the WARNING screen. There are also some features that seem to be disabled. Would you please send me a quote for repair? Thanks!

This problem is covered on our audio repair page:

http://www.sharc.net/gps_audio_repair.htm

But basically the problem is that you have a broken headphone jack connection between the jack and the main board. That bad connection is fooling your unit into thinking that a set of headphones are plugged in when they are not.

As a result of this, you are unable to switch back to the internal speaker.

We are quite familaiar with this problem and have repaired units with this issue many times.

Just waited 2.5 weeks for a new LCD and Digitizer from China. Installed the parts but the digitizer doesnt respond to touch at all. Is there another step to making the GPS recognize a new digitizer/ LCD works fine. I updated software but still nothing.

We use a specific digitizer in our repairs that is very robust and does not have the issue of becoming non-responsive. Without knowing what you actually bought, we can't say for certain what the problem could be.

You have to be very careful with purchases from overseas. Some products are knockoffs and not the same quality as the originals.

The parts that we use have a known track record of meeting and/or exceeding the original OEM part.

Good luck!

Do you sell digitizers? If so, what would it cost to ship to 44609? OR what would it cost to repair? thanks

I bought my daughter the vuvi 660 a couple years back and she has had problems here and there with the touch screen. I have been able to reset or recalibrate most of the time or just wait until it wants to work again. I even uopdated the software and bought the lifetime map update for her. I thought it was her becasue it seems she ends up with issues with all her electronics. But now, it turns on but Ishe gets now response at all from the screen. It seems like such a waste to throw this in the trash but there doesn't appear to be any easy fix. Any thoughts?

Yes, the touchscreen needs to be replaced. This is a well-known issue with a specific style of touchscreen that was used. The screens that we use do not have this issue. Let us know if you would like information on how to have us repair it for you.

My 660 (12P400727)touchscreen has died. Tried the re-cal solutions to no avail. Garmin says my Lifetime maps ($130)are not transferable so using my daughters unit (no longer used by her) is out. Thought about using her screen to replace mine but I don't think I'm techie enough to attempt it. I'd love to send it to you right away for required repairs but your site always says you are overbooked. Any breaks in the schedule so I can send it in???
