How can you determine if your Nuvi's firmware needs updated?

It's very easy. Just click on the link below and choose your model of Nuvi. The links will direct your to Garmin's website and will give you the current firmware version available for your particular Nuvi.

Current Nuvi Firmware Versions

Now compare the firmware version number from the Garmin website with the firmware version on your Nuvi.

The procedure may be slightly different from model to model but the following steps should help you get there.

1. Boot up your Nuvi.
2. At the main menu, press the wrench/tools icon.
3. Next, press the gear icon or wrench/settings icon.
4. Press the gears/system icon.
5. Press the "about" button.

Look for a number next to the text "Software Firmware Version"

If the number on your Nuvi is the same as the number on the Garmin website, then your Nuvi already has the latest version of firmware and it will not need to be updated.

If the number on on your Nuvi is lower than the one listed on the Garmin website, then there is a newer version of firmware available for your Nuvi and you can update your Nuvi is you wish.
