There's (3) ways you can charge your Nuvi's battery:

1. DC Car Adapter
2. AC Wall Charger
3. PC USB Cable

Nuvi 3xx & 6xx Series:

Plug the DC or AC charger cable into your Nuvi. Your Nuvi should turn on and boot to the main menu. You should see a yellow lightning bolt symbol appear over the battery status icon at the upper right corner of the screen. If you remove the cable, you should see the yellow lightning bolt dissapear and only see the battery icon. This means you are now running on battery power only.

The battery icon consists of (4) horizontal green segments. You could classify each segment to represent 25% of battery power. When the battery is fully charged (100%), you should see all (4) bars turn green.

The battery wil charge while the unit is on, however this is not the fastest or most efficient way to charge the battery as the screen is consuming power. Press and hold down the on/off power button until the screen goes black and displays the message "Battery Charging". In a few seconds, the text should dim. Touching the screen will cause the text to become brighter and you can go back to the main menu by pressing and holding the on/off power button again and allowing the unit to reboot.

When the battery is fully charged, the screen will display "Battery Charge Complete".

Nuvi 2xx/2xxW & 7xx Series:

Plug the DC or AC charger cable into your Nuvi. Your Nuvi should turn on and boot to the main menu. You should see that the battery status icon at the upper right corner of the screen is not present. If you remove the cable, you should see the battery icon. This means you are now running on battery power only.
