What are best options for repairing a failed touchscreen on a Nuvi 3790?

Having replaced one before, it is not an easy task. Besides taking the unit apart, there are several ribbon cables that must be disconnected. It is easy to break the latches that hold these cables into the board, so great care must be taken. Unfortunately, the touchscreen & LCD are glued into the front half of the case with epoxy. If you purchase a replacement, they will most likely give you the entire front half of the case with the replacement LCD glued into the front. We broke the epoxy loose and removed the screen only to find that the replacement LCD was glued into a new front half of the case. The replacement part is not cheap. We paid nearly $100.00 for it. We bought (2), one to fix a unit we purchased broken, the other for a future repair.

Thanks. All thumbs when trying DIY repair on tech equipment. Decided to buy new Nuvi 2598 from Costco for 170.
