The majority of Bluetooth issues are a result of corrupted or outdated Bluetooth software. Missing Bluetooth Symbol on Menu If your Bluetooth symbol is missing on your GPS's menu or your phone isn't being recognized by your GPS, try looking to see what is the Bluetooth firmware version. On most models, it can be found in the settings menu. Manufacturers will often update their firmware to resolve bugs or allow your GPS to work with newer phones coming out on the market. If you have access to the Internet, try visiting the manufacturer's website and seeing if they have any downloadable programs that will check to see if your current Bluetooth firmware is up-to-date and will allow you to reflash the bluetooth firmware if it's not up-to-date. First, make sure your GPS is fully charged before reflashing. You don't want it to die while doing an upgrade! After the firmware has been upgraded, make sure you have safely removed the GPS, by clicking on the "Computer" icon on your PC and then the drive number assigned to your GPS. Right click on it and select "Safely Remove". Once the drive has been removed, you can then pull the USB plug out of your GPS. You GPS will reboot, showing that it is upgrading the software. DO NOT TURN IT OFF WHILE IT IS UPGRADING YOUR SOFTWARE! On some models, you will see a progress bar showing that your GPS's Bluetooth firmware is being updated. After it has finished, you'll come back to the main menu. Now, turn your GPS off and then back on again. Now, why do I ask you to reboot it again? Well, because sometimes the new firmware revisions won't show up until after you have rebooted for the second time. Now, if you have upgraded it correctly, your Bluetooth symbol should be back and you should see the new revision level in the settings menu. Party at the Other End Can Not Hear You at All If the other party at the other end can not hear your voice at all, then the problem could be (2) reasons: On certain brands or models, the GPS cradle (bluetooth units only), may have a microphone jack that will accept an external microphone. You can purchase an external microphone at any major electronics suppliers, like Best Buy. This will bypass your internal microphone.
