Warning About Other Ham Radio Clubs

Before you decide to join an Amateur Radio Club, please be sure to ask for a copy of the club's Constitution and Bylaws and ask about membership requirements and obligations.

South Hills Amateur Radio Club will be more than happy to provide prospective members with a copy of it's club Constitution and Bylaws. In fact, our Bylaws are posted on this website. Simply click [here] to view them.

Having the opportunity to read a club's Bylaws will help the prospective member to decide whether or not if they wish to join a club and will also provide information as to whether there is discrimination in the membership process and if there are meeting attendance requirements.

Here is a membership clause from another Amateur Radio Club in Pittsburgh:

"Your application will be held for one year. During this time you will be required to attend at least three business meetings. This application will be reviewed at the required three meetings. A vote for membership will be held at the final meeting. Your application can be turned down for any number of reasons which will not be explained. If not acted upon, it will be terminated. You may reapply."

Does this sound like a club you would like to join? You can be turned down for any reason and without an explanation?

South Hills Amateur Radio Club only has (2) membership requirements as stated in the club's Bylaws. The prospective member must be:

1. A resident of the United States of America, regardless of age, sex, religion, race or license level.
2. Not a member of any subversive organization

That's it!   South Hills Amateur Radio Club does not discriminate in it's membership process and does not establish a mandatory attendance requirement. Also, once you join, you're membership starts immediately, there's no waiting process or probationary period!

South Hills Amateur Radio Club wants you to feel welcome and enjoy your Ham Radio experience!
